Circuit Breaker Replacement in DFW
Licensed and Insured | Serving Dallas-Fort Worth Since 2005 | Available 24 Hours, 7 Days a Week
A tripping breaker often warns that the circuit is overloaded, shorted, or has another electrical problem. A bigger concern is a breaker or panel that looks normal but no longer provides proper protection. TopTech Electric and Plumbing has served Dallas-Fort Worth homeowners since 2005, diagnosing breaker problems and handling breaker and panel replacements when needed.
Circuit Breaker Services for DFW Homes
Single Breaker Replacement
We diagnose the circuit first, then install a compatible breaker designed for your specific electrical panel.
Main Breaker Replacement
The main breaker controls power to the entire home. We inspect the issue and replace it when failure or damage requires service.
AFCI and GFCI Breaker Installation
We install AFCI and GFCI breakers where required or where added protection makes sense for your home’s electrical system.
Double-Tapped Circuit Correction
Two conductors at a single breaker terminal pose a safety issue. We correct the wiring properly instead of using an improper workaround.
Bus Bar and Interior Inspection
A breaker that repeatedly fails can indicate a damaged connection or bus bar. We inspect inside the panel to find the underlying problem.
Obsolete Panel Work
When compatible breakers are no longer available for an outdated panel, we explain the situation and recommend the appropriate solution.
Panel Replacement and Service Upgrades
When the panel itself is outdated, damaged, or no longer suitable for your home’s electrical demand, we can replace it or upgrade the service.
24/7 Emergency Electrical Service
Burning smells, scorching, arcing, a hot panel, or a breaker that trips immediately after reset are reasons to call now. Switch the circuit off and leave it off.
We Inspect DFW Panels For Hidden Breaker Problems

Some older electrical panels can develop breaker, connection, or bus bar problems that are not visible from the outside. In DFW homes, TopTech Electric and Plumbing checks the panel’s condition before recommending a breaker replacement or larger electrical repair.
We do not recommend replacing a panel just because of its age or brand. Our electricians inspect components, identify signs of overheating, damage, or poor connections, and determine whether the panel can be safely serviced or replaced.
Federal Pacific Electric Stab-Lok panels have a long history of safety concerns and regulatory investigation. TopTech focuses on the actual condition of your panel and provides a clear recommendation based on our findings.
What Our Customers Say
Up to Code Compliance for the First Time in 47 Years
Mark Comstock had a water heater replaced, and the job needed both trades. Our crew installed a breaker box near the heater and an automatic shutoff to bring it into compliance; then the city came out.
“They installed a circuit breaker box near the heater and an automatic shutoff mechanism to bring my installation up to code compliance for the first time in 47 years! The city inspector quickly inspected and passed it.”
Forty-seven years is the headline. That installation worked but was out of compliance the whole time, and nobody knew until a licensed contractor pulled a permit and an inspector checked it. The inspection is not a formality. It is the only independent check on electrical work. Read Mark’s full Google review.
Signs a Circuit Breaker Needs Replacing
It trips on a load it used to carry. Breakers wear. One that trips on a hair dryer it handled for years is often the fault itself.
It will not reset, or it resets and trips again at once. That is a live fault on the circuit or a failed mechanism.
It feels warm, or the panel does. Heat at a breaker means a loose or degraded connection.
You can smell it. Hot plastic or a burning odor at the panel is a call now, not tomorrow.
Buzzing, crackling, or visible arcing. Sound from a panel is never normal.
Scorching, melted plastic, or rust inside the enclosure.
The handle is loose or stuck between on and off. A breaker that will not seat firmly protects nothing.
Lights dim when a large appliance starts, pointing at the connection rather than the appliance.
What Moves Circuit Breaker Replacement Price
- Which breaker. A standard single-pole breaker is not a main breaker.
- Panel make and age. Obsolete panels mean that breakers are scarce or unavailable.
- Breaker type. Standard, AFCI, GFCI, and dual-function are different types.
- What the diagnosis finds. A failed breaker is one job; a damaged bus is another.
- Whether the circuit has a fault that has been tripping it all along.
- Permits and inspections, where your city requires them.
- Time of day. After-hours and weekend calls are priced differently.
We diagnose before quoting and provide the price in writing because a price given over the phone for a panel nobody has opened is a guess.
